DO I NEED TO DO DARK CALIBRATION EVERY TIME I TURN ON MY SPECTROMETER? AND WHAT IS DARK CALIBRATION?
Product Function
What is Dark Calibration?
Dark Calibration is an optional operation in all of the UPRtek handheld spectrometer devices. The devices will always ask if you want to perform a Dark Calibration every time you turn on the device. While the device is in operation, you can also, through the “Options” menu, manually execute a Dark Calibration. But what is Dark Calibration used for?
Do I need to do Dark Calibration every time before use?
Benefits of performing dark calibration
Basically an electrical residue or “charge” accumulates on the CMOS sensor and may interfere with accurate measurements. Basically, this charge builds up when the temperatures you are operating in changes significantly. The other situation is when you move from lighter to darker environments or vice versa. Also, anytime you are experienc¬ing some anomolies in measurements is a good time to perform a Dark Calibration. The MK350 devices always ask if want to perform a Dark Calibration when powering on your device because it is just good practice to do so.
Dark calibration occurs when you turn on the unit.
It allows you to do a dark calibration anytime.
