LED light color can be inconsistent

Subtle differences in LED light color is often problematic for Lighting directors who can notice subtle color inconsistencies in their lights – these lights will need to be tediously adjusted (e.g. using RGB controls), a time consuming and visually exhausting task.

CV600 can be your eyes. It can measure and quickly provide color and intensity data that can help you quickly sync your lights, by the numbers.

Look before you leap – Purchasing your Lights

Not all lights are created equal.  Some have better Color Rendering,  more accurate CCT settings and even superior Flicker mitigation.  Measure with a spectrometer, buy your lights with confidence and get your money’s worth.

CV600 Rendering indices for TV and Cinema

TLCI  – Television Lighting Consistency Index

Film professionals can choose a rendering index called TLCI (Television Lighting Consistency Index). It  has become an important “rendering index” for the film industry because it’s a metric that measures from a camera perspective, not how a human sees colors (CRI).

TLMF – Television Luminaire Matching Factor

Still another index is the Television Luminaire Matching Factor (TLMF) an extension of TLCI. During a shoot, there will often be different light sources on set.  However, mixing lights with different color behavior could wreak havoc when capturing the shot and then trying to fix those colors in post production.  TLMF is a metric that can be used before a shoot, comparing different lights to determine if they are compatible.

SSI – Spectral Similarity Index

Another color rendering index is SSI, developed by The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. It focuses on solid state lights and digital cinema cameras.  It measures a light’s rendering capabilities against different standard illuminant references.

Other Rendering indices – CRI, CQS, TM-30

If TLCI or SSI is not your choice, there are other color rendering metrics that CV600 provides.  It’s a matter preference for you to achieve the best lighting environment that fits your needs.

TLCI, SSI, TLMF

CV600 Flicker checker

It’s devastating to come back from a shoot to discover flicker in your video.  The causes of flicker are many and not necessarily the mains frequency.  And repairing it is timely and not certainly fixable.  CV600 can measure and assess flicker severity before shooting and save you from post production headaches.

Flicker Checker

Finding the right Gel.

Gels are colored transparencies used to cover a light  to achieve a certain color temperature.  But all lights are different and selecting the right gel can be tricky.

The CV600 can measure the light source and suggest the appropriate gel, right to the brand and id number, to achieve the color temperature you need.

Use Light “CCT” and “Target” to arrive at appropriate gel “LBF 223 1/8”.

CV600 Exposure Meter completes the tool-pack

If you are carrying around a Color Meter, Flicker Meter, Gel Finder and Exposure Meter, it’s a lot of things to be rummaging around for in your camera bag.  The CV600 is all those and then some, a Cinema lighting tool-pack all in one place, easy to carry, easy to use.

Save your data for later

Performances are never one-and-done.  Stage productions may change locations and renting or using local equipment means the lights will be different.

Cinema film shooting is done over many months and reshoots sometimes means replicating the shoot scene in a different place.  The CV600 can easily store and recall performance lighting data for later use.

Cinematic and Stage lighting by the numbers

CV600 is a feature-rich lighting tool box focusing on Cinema and Stage lighting professionals.  No need to carry around 3 or 4 devices to get the job done.  Lighting crews can now setup quickly and confidently through accurate measurement data and a rich set of metrics.
